12 órás Országos Bajnokság, 2008. 08. 30., Csákvár

Welcome to my homepage. Please, read my short introduction.

I was born in Veszprém (Hungary) in 1981. My family was keen on sport, being in for sport was an essential issue for all of my relatives. Decades before my birth, my grandmother was one of the first participants to swim across Lake Balaton, so no wonder my first attempts in the field of sport was that of swimming. I took part in some outdoor swimming races (e.g. I swam across Lake Balaton three times), but I couldn't be better than achieving a fifth place in a race.
In 2001, I thought it was high time to try out something else and it was long distance running. I hadn't run much before, and only two weeks prior my first race had I began to run. The distance was half-marathon. Although according to experts it is required to train at least half a year before running 21 kms, I decided to  take part in the competition.  In the summer heat, I completed the distance in almost two hours and at the finish line I decided that I wouldn't line-up at the start in any running competitions any more. But don't think I didn't run a year later at the same race.
Until 2006, I took part in half marathon races. That was the year when I decided to enter a marathon. This introduction to the world of 42Ks wasn't good either. Obviously this failure was due to my great expectations. Since then, I have completed four marathons: twice in Budapest, once in Debrecen and in Ljubljana (Slovenia). I finished in Ljubljana and Debrecen under 3.30.
2008 brought the turning point in my running-career. I had toyed with the idea of entering a race of really 'inhuman' distances and 29 March, 2008 was the date when my dream and desire came true: I took part in a 6-hour race in Veszprém (Hungary). I finished at the fifth place and gained the bronze medal in my age-group with my 69 kms.
I trained a lot and entered several races. My trophies in this year: two cups and three medals, finishing in the first quarter of the runners in all of my races.

I regard my third place in my age-group at the Hungarian Championship of 12-hour Running as my best result. I ran 110,6 kms at that race. I don't have to tell you how fantastic feeling it was. I always have a good quotation about this feeling in my mind: 'if you are into 99 kms in a 100K race, your brain is not the one you started with." It's very true, but I think only those can really comprehend the meaning of it who have run such a distance.

I am also proud of the completion of UltraBalaton, a 212K race around the biggest lake in Central Europe and running 100K in less than 10 hours. These were terrific experiences of my life.

Finally, some words about my private life. I am a teacher at II. Rákóczi Ferenc Secondary Grammar School and form master of class '11B'. I grew up in Balatonalmádi but now I work here, 200 kms from my home. Of course, it is not by chance: my girlfriend and future wife lives here. She is also a teacher and of course my advisor, masseur, etc. My parents live in Balatonalmádi and as far as I know they are very proud of my results. I hope in the future I can give them more to be proud of.

I am a member of Viking SE. I will finish my studies of an athletics coach in November 2011. After that I can start my carreer as a real coach.
